Six Words About Me

Happy Cat In Search Of Spirits

My wonderful friend, Pinhole tagged me for this meme.

The objective is to come up with a six word memoir (see my silly little offering above), inspired by Hemingway, who once bet ten dollars that he could sum up his life in six words. He came up with: For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.

Here are the meme rules:

1. Write your own six word memoir.

2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.

3. Link to the person who tagged you in your post .

4. Tag five more blogs with links.

5. And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!

Okay, guys, here are my picks for bloggers to participate: Jaye Wells , Erica Orloff , Stephen Parrish , Ello, and Precie

As a side note, right around Valentine’s day, Stephen awarded me with the E for Excellence badge you’ll see in my sidebar... Thank you Stephen, it’s much appreciated even if it took me a half a month to get it up on yon blog. Instead of passing it to specific bloggers, all of you located on my blogroll should consider yourselves awarded this honor if you haven’t received it elsewhere already...

Those I tagged, drop me a line to let me know your memoir’s up... I can’t wait to see how creative some of you will get with this one.

I'll do mine here:

She told me she was eighteen.

All right, I know, not very original. How about something to do with the future of my writing career:

Eat my dust Rowling, you philistine.

Too ambitious? Okay, maybe I should just reflect on my life in general:

Once more, please. Exactly the same.

Nice self-portrait, by the way. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Oh, nice one! I'll think of this and post for tomorrow!

Love your drawing! Very cute!

Thanks for the tag, Merry! Love the illustration!

I did mine sans image. Maybe if a fitting pic appears, I'll update.

Hi Stephen,

Oh, I like all of those... but I'd really like to see the illustrations ...

And, hey, what're ya sayin'? I'm catty and drunk... hmmmph...

Hi Ello,

I took a few days with this one because I didn't know how the hell to narrow it down to six words... these'll work for today...

Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Hi Precie,

Thanks for playing. I'll stop over shortly to see what you came up with.

We just had to do this on the same day, didn't we?

Yours is AWESOME. I love the illustration.

Hi Ello,

I'll be there shortly!

Hi Christine,

Thank you!!!

Hi Erica,

Thanks for playing - I'll stop by soon.

Hi Josie,

"Happy Cat In Search of Spirits" - it's right under the picture.

Merry: My bad. Since I'm on dial-up, neither the picture or the six words had loaded by the time I read the post and commented.

That is a cool cartoon, Merry, and a good memoir, too.

I've been mentally composing six-word memoirs ever since I first saw this one on Debra's blog last week.

The one for today would be 'Wow! Not quite what I expected!' Yesterday was 'Glad to be off the motorway' (I had to take my eldest to look at a university in Edinburgh and it was a hellish drive.) If I had to come up with one and only one, it would probably be 'When do I get another go?'

Great memoir, Merry! Thanks for playing!

(And I thought I had pointy ears!)

My problem is that writing a memoir requires a non-crappy memory, so here's my entry:

Unfortunately, I've forgotten most of it.

Da Vinci saw it coming.

Hey Josie,

Sometimes it takes a while to page up when there are images, I know some of the posts with pictures or videos, I sometimes can't see them, and then I read the comments and feel bad that I missed something :-(

Hi Mary,

I like yours, "When do I get another go?" hmm... I think I'd probably go more with something like, I'm tired, are we there yet? Does that make me a pessimist?

Hi Pinhole,

Thanks for thinking of me!

Hi JJ,

Great to see you, yours is great, too!

Mary Witzl said...

No, that doesn't make you a pessimist at all. I think our memoirs can change from day to day. After my trip to Edinburgh with my daughter, 'I'm tired, are we there yet?' would have perfectly summed up how I was feeling. Yesterday, though, I had a great day and would definitely have wanted another go. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Say, that would make a good memoir too, come to think of it...

Hi there - I made my way here from Precie's blog. She tagged me for the same exercise. I like the Rowling one best, though. Damn, why didn't I think of that? :)

I'm excited to find the blog of another stay-at-home-mom & writer. Cheers!

PS - Do you mind if I link you?

Hi Aerin,

Absolutely, link away - it's always great to meet other writers and moms, if you're looking for more, most of my blogroll classifies. Which blog of yours are you working with more - or should I just check them all?
